Number 16 Bulletin of Komala Party:
Widespread protests continues in all Kurdistan cities
Today, Sunday August 7th, the widespread demonstrations
and protests that have been going on for the last three weeks
continued and solidarity with other cities in Kurdistan made many
cities close their shops and bazaars.
Mahabad: Last night
a number of sporadic demonstrations occurred in the city. In one
instance, a regime force started shooting at the youths
demonstrating there. A number of the protestors were able to stop
the shooting by threatening and convincing him. Meanwhile, people,
in protest to constant shootings in the city and converting schools
to temporary military camp grounds, stopped registering their kids
for the upcoming school year and closed their shops and bazaars to
continue their protests.
Kamyaran: People in
Kamyaran have been arranging for a big demonstration within the last
few days in solidarity with the rest of Kurdish cities. Today they
closed down most to the city and joined the demonstrations.
Paveh: In the last
few days, this city was also the scene for a number of
demonstrations and today it is continuing.
In
the other cities of Kurdistan like Bokan, Shnow, Baneh, Sanandaj,
and Sardasht people closed their shops and these cities’ atmosphere
is very tense.
The people’s demands include bringing to justice the killers of the
innocent youths who committed no crime but demanding justice,
bringing an end to unannounced martial law in Kurdistan, and the
release of all the arrested people. However none of these demands
have been met, instead the regime is suppressing and repressing the
people’s legitimate demands by force. Meanwhile national and
international solidarity with people’s demand is growing along with
condemnation of the regime’s action. Despite the brutal suppression
of the demonstrations of people, the popular uprising of people of
Kurdistan is gaining momentum. People have brought new dimension to
the Kurdish struggle for democracy and freedom by using ingenuous
resistance methods. Komala activists are continuing their struggle
along with people of Kurdistan.
