To United Nations Council for Human Rights, Geneva

Ladies and gentlemen,

Since taking power 27 years ago, the Islamic Republic regime has executed thousands of freedom seekers, women, workers, students and ethnical minorities. Thousands of people have been imprisoned or been forced to leave the country. The Iranian regime openly has violated all the International conventions.

During this period, religious and national minorities have been severely and permanently oppressed. The murder of Shwana Ghadri, a Kurdish freedom activist, by Iranian forces last year and the excessive use of force and brutality against peaceful demonstrations in Iranian Kurdistan are just examples of atrocities committed by this regime against Kurdish people.

The capital punishment and long imprisonment of citizens of Ahwaz city, who recently participated in several demonstrations are just more examples of the oppression against ethnical minorities in Iran.

The Iranian women are widely subjected to discrimination. In spite of international protestations, the lapidation is still practised by this regime.

Also the repression against writers, journalists, students, women, human rights activists is widespread in Iran.

The kidnapping of syndicalist Mr. Mansour Asanlou for the second time, and that of Saghez who had been released under pressure of public opinion are examples of continuous repression of this regime. Iranian authorities even have not allowed the family of the Frouhar’s to hold ceremony for their deceased, Darioush and Parwanah Frouhar, active in the iranian oppositional movement, who were assassinated several years ago in Iran.

Ladies and gentlemen,

In spite of successive condemnations by International human rights stances, and having been found guilty by German and Argentine Courts, this regime is continuing to interfere in internal affairs of many countries like Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. The nuclear programme of the Iranian regime is certainly a serious threat for the stability of the region.

The signatories of this paper demand on the occasion of December 10th- the universal day for human rights- to put pressure on the Iranian Islamic regime to force this regime to respect the International charter for human rights and its contents.
