Mariwan in strike!
In the town of Mariwan located in Kurdistan (Iran), a strike has
been broken among the residents since March 2 after the Iranian
Government soldiers shot a group of workers. The number injured is
unknown. The strike is a result of the tense situation that arose
after the Iranian government closed the border to Iraq and thus
hampered the work of the residents. The demonstrator’s demands food,
their freedom and their security back. The shops are closed and will
remain so despite pressure from the Iranian security police. The
Schools are also expected to close tomorrow and the strike is
predicted to spread to other Kurdish cities.
