Dear Mr. Robinson,

Re: File Number GT03-47086

Following our correspondence in regards to the execution sentence of Saasaan Al Kanaan, I hereby would like to inform you that despite all humanitarian efforts, Saasaan was executed in Sanandaj’s main prison on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2003. As I mentioned in my previous e-mail, Saasaan was arrested in September of 2002 in Sanandaj, Kurdistan along with 90 other people.

Saasaan’s file in contradiction with the legal procedures was sent to Tehran without informing his lawyer in order to eliminate any further legal efforts by Saasaan or his lawyer. The execution sentence was affirmed in five days in Tehran and only then was Saasaan’s lawyer informed of what had taken place. Saasaan’s mother as well as United Nations human rights representatives were refused a visit with Saasaan. On the evening after Saasaan’s execution, his body was handed over to his family by the Islamic republic of Iran as the execution rope was still around his neck. The Islamic Republic of Iran did not permit Saasaan’s family to carry out his burial services during the day and the family was forced to burry their son late at night.

On a number of occasions, the monstrous government of Islamic Iran has tried to force Saasaan to repent from his actions in order to be pardoned. Saasaan however never repented for he knew that by repenting he would be confirming the forged accusations made against him and that he still would be executed with no honour. He bravely stood up for his beliefs and with his last breath defended his freedom of thought and opinion. Saasaan stood up to the imposturous Islamic government of Iran and with his blood he wrote another shameful chapter into the voluminous book of Islamic Iran’s crimes against humanity and freedom.

As it is too late to save the innocent life of Saasaan; as a resident of your district, I hereby would like to encourage you to take forceful action and to help prevent other tragedies as such from taking place. Although the life of Saasaan can not be restored, with your help and the help of the Canadian government and the international community the lives of hundreds of thousand others who innocently and on a daily basis are executed in Iran for simply having an opinion can be saved. On behalf of myself, the revolutionary freedom fighting organization of Komala and all other freedom loving human beings I beseech you

to take forceful action for the lives of many more innocent victims are in danger.
