Komala and its politics

4- What Komala Wants?

The goals of Komala are to struggle with Kurdish people for freedom, for the elimination of the national oppression, for the elimination of suppressive bureaucratic institutions of the central government, the  realization of the sovereignty of the Kurdish people in their own land, for the expansion of political rights and social justice in Kurdistan, and for creation of a federal government which must act upon  the wishes of Iranian people, and respect and guarantee the interest of workers and toilers of Iranian Kurdistan.

We demand equality for all oppressed nationalities in Iran, and oppose the suppression and restriction of their rights. We are for the spirit of brotherhood and collaboration between all oppressed nationalities. Based on our ideology and socialist program, we recognize the right of self-determination for all nationalities and their right of secession.  However, we advocate the voluntary unity of all nationalities as a united federation of Iran. We believe such a unity is in the interest of democracy for working people all around Iran.

Komala is working hard to expel all military forces of the Islamic Republic from Kurdistan. We support the establishment of peoples and workers counsels. Komala also supports establishing labor unions and any other unions to organize working or oppressed people in Kurdistan. We support progressive labor laws that defend the rights of working people and guarantee them the standard of living they deserve. Komala is also strongly against any discrimination based on gender, nationality, race, or culture.

We believe in the separation of religion from the state, and are working towards the establishment of a secular state in Kurdistan and Iran. Komala seeks any opportunity to solve the Kurdish problems, which are basically the consequence of the Islamic Republic’s suppressive policies, through peaceful means. But throughout its existence, the regime of the Islamic Republic has repeatedly rejected peaceful negotiation and instead has systematically used inhuman methods against us, including killing, torture, execution, arrests, harassment and military intervention.

Komala is for collaboration and cooperation of all political parties and organizations based on mutual interest. We believe in the respect of differences in opinion and an understanding towards the existence of many political tendencies. All Kurdish organizations fighting for Kurdish rights could work together in a peaceful and cooperative manner.

We are for a modern and democratic Kurdistan. Komala defends political pluralism and activities of different political tendencies based on respect for democratic principles. We defend the individual and civil rights of citizens to criticize the state and governmental institutions, and demand that the elected and non-elected institutions be accountable to the general population.

Komala passionately fights for the existence and development of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and human rights. Komala supports the Kurdish liberation movements in other parts of Kurdistan who are also fighting for self-determination. We strongly believe various Kurdish freedom fighters can establish a closer cultural and political relationship that will benefit all Kurdish people in the region.
