To Whom It May Concern
Münster, 23rd of December 2004
Dear Madams and Sirs, Dear Friends,
we would like to thank you sincerely for your social commitment that you have shown in the case of the threatening death penalty on Esmail Mohammadi in Iran. On account of bringing the case before international public, the death penalty has not been executed, yet. Still, the Supreme Court in Teheran confirmed the death sentence on July the first 2004, as the lawyers of Mohammadi family have been informed in October. The reasons for condemnation are the reproaches of membership in the Komale-Party and furthermore the participation in the murder of an official of the Iranian Secret Service. Despite common physical and psychological tortures in Iran, especially against political prisoners, the accused denies vehemently the participation in the assassination, while he is admitting his membership in the Komale-Party in public. At this point we would like to let you know about the widespread practice to incriminate victims of political persecution with numerous grave reproaches to obtain death sentence. Those reproaches can neither be verified by critical examinations nor can ever be seen as free and independent administration of justice. Esmaeils brother, Karim Mohammadi, actually living in Muenster/Germany and participating actively in the association of political refugees, recently informed us about the possibility to appeal from the sentence. In order to bring the trial before the public we have founded an action group in Muenster. With this letter we ask you to put the government of Iran under pressure once again to save the life of Esmaeil Mohammadi!!!!!!
Do not hesitate to contact us, we are in your disposal for further information.
Sincerely,
Karim Mohammdi, Hossein Alineyad, Mojtaba Shakibapour.
